Currently, it has been a common trend for adolescents to spend extensive hours daily on their smartphones. However, this phenomenon has both pros and cons, which will be discussed in the following essay with relevant examples to support it.

On the one hand, it is an irrefutable fact that smartphones bring a lot of advantages for people in today's society. With technological advancement, a variety of types of cutting-edge gargets appear to serve people’s demands such as entertainment, and shopping. Therefore, many schools apply electronic devices to education curriculum. For example, instead of traditional methods of teaching like writing on the blackboard, the teacher can show their presentation on the television screen or share it on student’s tablets. As a result, young individuals can be allowed to study more efficiently, and even stay at home. Another positive point is that adolescents can also approach cutting-edge technology earlier resulting in the enhancement of their potential skills, consequently, children can be in comprehensive development creating a variety of great opportunities in the future.

On the other hand, some drawbacks are still mentioned by a number of people in the modern day. Firstly, technological development offers various forms of entertainment for children, however, the lack of management the children leads to a lot of serious issues are appear including cyberbullying and game addiction. Moreover, spending hours on technological devices has a big impact on their health resulting in mental health problems such as illusions; and visual issues like short-sightedness. In addition, if children use a smartphone for some unreasonable purpose, they can be distracted from important academic and skill development activities.

In conclusion, it seems to me that its detrimental effects are more significant. In my opinion, I think that educational institutions should educate them to use smart gadgets with suitable purposes and parents ought to monitor their children's usage reasonably.
