many people say that globalisation and the number of growing multinational companies have a negative effect on the environment. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position
In the contemporary world, it is believed that the current environment is adversely affected by the increasing growth of many multinational companies and globalisation. From my perspective, I strongly agree with several risks that these phenomena pose to our environment due to their severe influence on global health.
On the one hand, it is admitted that the excessive increase in multinational companies usually gives most developing countries more opportunities to promote their economy. In particular, if the demands of consumers surge, it is obvious that the growing number of products will be manufactured to meet their needs. As a consequence, the more factories are erected, the more people are able to find jobs, and thus, the economic growth of these countries, especially the ones that have great abilities to control the drastic rise of these global companies, is very likely to be enhanced.
On the other hand, when the existence of many multinational companies and globalisation is not restricted carefully by the officials, the environment will be harshly impacted. To be more specific, as the occurrence of many factories accelerates without the government’s supervision, the amount of toxic gases that emits into the air will turn significant and uncontrollable. Consequently, it leads to environmental deterioration, and it can clearly be predicted that human health would become worse. Furthermore, if this situation continuously happens, not only does the air quality become polluted, but it causes more natural disasters as well. For instance, some studies have shown that the amount of blizzards, tsunamis, and droughts has risen dramatically within a 10-year period from 2013 to 2023, which is a consequence of exhaust fumes released into the environment. From this, they also noted that the mortality rate has grown remarkably and this is the reason why the governments of these countries should directly take initiatives to tackle this severe problem.
In conclusion, although the growth of globalisation and many multinational companies may help some countries to promote their economy, the adverse effect of them is undeniable. Generally, the officials of these countries should limit the development of globalized companies and impose stricter regulations on their activities, especially their production activities.
