Many students choose to study at colleges and universities that are far away from the places where they grew up. Do the benefits of this outweigh the drawbacks?
The majority of pupils decided to enroll colleges and university which are further away from their childhood place. Although this can create homesick or culture shock, I believe that it might promotes independence for scholar studying abroad.
The main drawback that this could bring is the negative feelings that students get whenever they arrive to study in another places. This is because school environment, the learning system and also culture of this region is much more different with their hometown, creating emotions such as anxiety or flabbergasted. For example, Europeans tend to find difficult with the learning style and curriculum, also the way of eating foods using the chopstick in this completely new different continent. However, this problem can be easily solved, and students can slowly adapt towards the new environment in a short period of time.
The benefit of study abroad is scholars can become self-sufficient in a new region. Without the control and support of parent, they can learn and try to maintain their lives by themselves, which makes students becomes more responsible and mature in a long-term. For instances, international students are
financial dependent quicker than local pupils because of the stronger incentives to find a job to pay for their own expenditure. As learning in different
area avoid overreliance towards your parent, I'm of the opinion that this approach has various advantages.
In conclusion, although it might bring some temporary negative feelings when adapt and study in a different region, one must consider the self-sufficient ability in a long run. For these reasons, the positives far outnumber the positives.
