Overall, in Australia, football was the most favourable sports among boys, while girls significantly prefer netball. Notably, the number of females joining in no sports was higher than that of males.
Looking first at the male attendance in surveyed sports activities in Australia, there was 20% of boy pupils taking part in football after school, which were nearly double that of basketball players. Swimming followed behind, being enjoyed by nearly 15% boys. About 5% of male students recorded playing no sports, which were twice as much as the figure for netball.
Turning to the records of Australian girls, netball was the most popular activities to join after school, with about 20% pupil playing. There were just over 15% female players of netball, while the percentage for girls playing basketball, football and no sports hovered around 5%. Basketball had the highest participants among them, over 5%.
