The best way to solve the world's environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some people argue that the most effective measure to tackle the globle environmental issues would be to rise the fuel costs. While I accept this solution could do at some extent, I believe that there are more better ways to address this problem.
On one hand, some positive effects on the environment can be formed (achieved) when the government increases the cost of fuel. High price of fuel means that people have to pay more money for their daily transport if they continue to use their own vehicles. In order to save their budget they might consider taking orther forms of transport such as taking public transport, walking, or cycling to work. By garadually switching to this means of transport, the amount of exhaust fumes and emissions produced from private vehicles can reduce at certain extent; therefore, slowing the environmental degradation. However, this measure does not solve the root cause because it only impacts on the poor, who are sensetive with incresing living costs.
On an another hand, the best solution to handle this situation would be to join hands of all people by changing their negative lifestyle. The government and local authorities should encourage people to change their daily habits such as using reuseable shopping bags instead of single-use plastic bags, switching off their electric gadgets which are not in use, reusing and recycling more their items before buying the new ones. Although, these activities are appear insignificant at the first stage, but they can create enormous outcomes in the long term with the participation of the society.
In conclusion, although increasing the fuel costs might bring some benefits to address the environment degradation in the short term. I believe that there are some fessial measures holding in each inviduals to tackle this problem in the long term.
