Some people think that too much attention and too many resources are given to the protection of wild animals and birds.
Do you agree or disagree?

It is sometimes asserted that too much attention and financial support are being allocated towards wildlife protection. I mostly disagree with this assertion as wildlife conservation plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and contributing to economic growth, despite the need to prioritize human needs.

On the one hand, it seems to many that excessive resources are allocated to wildlife protection. It is a common sight that billboards advocating the protection of endangered species such as rhinos and pandas are displayed on main streets across the world, undoubtedly costing huge sums of money from donors. Furthermore, many celebrities such as royal family members are also strong advocates of environmental and animal preservation, contributing millions of dollars to campaigning and to promoting their agendas throughout the world. Such huge funding, as some may say, could instead be used to alleviate hunger and poverty on the planet.

On the other hand, the benefits of protecting animals and birds justify the financial backing and attention they receive. The foremost rationale why I support the protection of wild animals is the potential for ecological stability. This is because if one species becomes extinct, it can have a cascading effect on the entire ecosystem. To illustrate this point, the reintroduction of wolves in Yellowstone National Park has led to a more balanced ecosystem, affecting everything from the beaver population to the course of rivers. This demonstrates how the protection of one species can have far-reaching positive impacts on the entire environment.Another reason for my belief that investment in the preservation of wildlife can lead to economic gain. This is because protected areas such as national parks and wildlife reserves attract millions of tourists each year who are interested in experiencing nature and observing wildlife in their natural habitats. This tourism not only creates jobs directly related to wildlife conservation but also supports a wide range of local businesses. For example, in countries like Kenya and Tanzania, wildlife tourism contributes significantly to the national GDP, supporting thousands of jobs in various sectors from hospitality to transportation.

In conclusion, while acknowledging the importance of addressing human needs, I largely support the allocation of attention and resources to conserving wild animals. This is due to the crucial role wildlife plays in maintaining ecological balance and its potential for driving economic growth. Ultimately, investing in wildlife protection benefits both nature and humanity, making it a worthy allocation of resources and attention.
