Recently, it has arisen a growing phenomenon that people over the age of 50 have less opportunity to get an occupation. This matter has driven attraction from not only the authority but also each individual. This essay will represent several reasons for this problem and suggest some radical solutions.
First and foremost, there are a wide range of causes, leading to unemployment for older workers. Initially, they can not meet the demand for both physical health and the qualification from the business. To detail, most jobs now integrate advanced technology and automation to enhance productivity whereas the elderly lack the knowledge of this and can not compare with the young generation who are exposed to the technology regularly and use it skillfully. Regarding manual work, there is no more room for the elderly when compared with the younger. Another reason is that those who are over 50 years old are close to the retirement age. Thus, the companies are worried that the older worker can not dedicate for them in a long time, instead they will recruit those at the middle age who not only have a large amount of experience but can also work for the company in a long time.
So as to wipe out this matter, it needs the effort from both the government and the elderly. To begin with, the authority can universalize the knowledge of technology for the elderly by giving some free programs such as how to utilize AI for finishing tasks, or how to use microsoft applications….. Besides, A policy for extending the retirement age should be implemented to increase job’s opportunities for the older worker. In addition to, The elderly should effort endlessly to expand specialized knowledge, soft skill to fulfill strict requirement from recruiter.
In conclusion, from the reasons mentioned above, it can be affirmed that lack of knowledge about technology and health can be an obstacle for the old to get good occupations. Thus it highly recommends that both government and the elderly should attempt to improve the problem
