Living in big cities is bad for people’s health. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is widely believed that residing in large cities has a negative impact on individuals’ health. While I accept that city dwellers greatly benefit from living in large metropolises, I opine that city life also has an adverse impact on people’s well-being.
On the one hand, there are several explanations of the fact that living in large cities is benificial for dwellers’ health. Firstly, city residents can easily access healthcare services and facilities. In other words, urban areas are usually equipped state-of-the-art hospitals with advanced medical techonologies. As a result, it enables for individuals to receive timely medical attention as well as high-quality treatment. For example, while many people living in rural areas go to hospitals in big cities, city dwellers enjoy a wide range of healthcare services. Another considerable advantage of living in metropolises is various facilities and services for physical and mental health. For example, most of buildings in cities have modern fitness centers where inhabitants can do exercises every day, which enhances their well-being. In addition, there are numerous cinemas, coffee shops and shopping center in metropolises, where people can unwind after a tired working day.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that urban living poses disadvantageous impact on city dwellers’ health. Firstly, residing in cites negatively affect physical health. This is because residents suffer higher levels of pollution including air pollution, noise pollution, and traffic congestion compared to inhabitants living in rural areas. The above issues contribute to city residents’ respiratory problems, stress, and reduced quality of life. A significantly adverse influence is on mental health. In other words, urban dwellers are usually more stressful than others living in countryside. The key reason is the limited access to green spaces and fast-paced life, which features lead to stress. In addtion, noise pollution from heavy traffic and construction sites result in city residents’ sleep disturbances.
In conclusion, while there are several advantages of living in big cities, it seems to me that the negative impact of city life on people’s well-being is more significant.
