The maps illustrate the changes that took place in the Lakeside area between 2000 and 2009.
The depicted diagrams feature certain changes of the Lakeside area during the period of nine years, from 2000 to 2009.
Overall, the area witnessed significant transformations throughout the time, including the expansion of the industrial complex, as well as the elimination of several old structures such as the derelict warehouse and the residential areas to make room for new facilities like the car park or the shopping center.
In 2000, the layout of the Lake side was characterized by a simpler design. To the northwest, a considerable part of the map was occupied by a derelict warehouse, adjacent to an old town, along with an arts center and a school situated further south. Three residential areas were scattered across the map, with one in the top left corner, one in the middle and the smallest in the top right corner. The eastern side of the diagram was dominated by a woodland area, which featured a modest lake in the center and a river flowing southwest. An industrial complex was located to the right of the river.
By 2009, the structure experienced deliberate reallocation which showed the optimal features of the design. The residential area in the top left corner and the school had been reduced in size to make way for new infrastructures. In the place of the former old town, there were a new triangular office and a university. The derelict warehouse, arts center and the middle residential area were converted into a car park, a multi-screen cinema and a shopping center, respectively. The woodland area in the east had shrunk, and the lower residential area was removed to facilitate the expansion of the industrial complex.
