The news media have become too much influence in people's lives today and this is a negative development, To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Recent decades have witnessed technological advancements that have afforded people unparalleled opportunities to get exposed to a wealth of news both from print and non-print sources. While some people may think that the enormous influence caused by the news media can pose negative impacts on our life. From my point of view, I am in agreement with this statement.
On the one hand, there is no denying that news media can offer certain noteworthy benefits. The intrinsic upside is that it could narrow the distance between one country and other countries in the world. Indubitably, mass media today is becoming more and more prevalent and diversified, proportionally, which can potentially act as a catalyst to have the globalization process and cross-cultural exchange activities regardless of geographic barriers, resultantly, people would approach a lot of valuable knowledge.
On the other hand, it is no doubt that digital media can furnish discernible disadvantages. The first incontrovertible and prominent downside is that the information it brings is unreliable. Irrefutably, in the field of advertising, buyers characteristically make shopping choices just because of the attractive information marketed, proportionately, which can presumably drive people to be manipulated into chasing the fake products, therefore, causing serious consequences to people’s spirit and property. In addition, the second unquestionable and noticeable drawback is that it could exert an adverse effect on the young generation. Doubtlessly, many people typically become famous overnight although they do not have any talents at all, proportionally, which can probably create a negative trend for the young when they easily consider these people as models in order to imitate and attract media attention be it in many ways, resulting in lowering their learning outcomes and joining in criminal activities.
To sum up, while the news media can yield noticeable benefits for nations and human beings. The disadvantages of this phenomenon are more incontrovertibly detrimental in light of the aforementioned reasoning.

Band điểm Coherence & Cohesion ước lượng: 6
Band Score for Coherence and Cohesion: 6
- Organize Information Logically:
- Detailed explanation: The essay demonstrates a reasonable level of logical organization. It begins with an introduction that introduces the topic and the writer’s stance clearly. Each body paragraph discusses a specific aspect of the argument, with the first paragraph focusing on the benefits of news media and the second on its drawbacks. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and restates the writer’s opinion. However, there is room for improvement in the coherence between sentences within paragraphs, as some ideas could be more smoothly connected to enhance overall flow.
- How to improve: To enhance logical organization, ensure that each paragraph’s main idea is clearly stated and supported by relevant examples or evidence. Additionally, work on improving the transitions between sentences within paragraphs to create a smoother flow of ideas. Using transition words and phrases can help guide the reader through the essay more effectively.
- Use Paragraphs:
- Detailed explanation: The essay effectively uses paragraphs to structure its content. Each paragraph addresses a distinct aspect of the argument, with clear topic sentences introducing the main idea of each paragraph. However, some paragraphs could be more developed, particularly in providing additional examples or elaborating on ideas to strengthen the argument.
- How to improve: Consider expanding on the points made in each paragraph by providing more detailed explanations or offering additional examples to support the arguments. This will not only strengthen the coherence and cohesion of the essay but also provide more depth to the analysis.
- Use a Range of Cohesive Devices:
- Detailed explanation: The essay utilizes a variety of cohesive devices to connect ideas and maintain coherence. Transition words and phrases such as "on the one hand," "on the other hand," "in addition," and "to sum up" are effectively used to signal shifts between different aspects of the argument and to create a logical progression of ideas. However, there could be a more diverse range of cohesive devices used to enhance the essay’s cohesion further.
- How to improve: Incorporate a wider range of cohesive devices, such as pronouns, conjunctions, and adverbs, to create smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs. Additionally, consider using cohesive devices more consistently throughout the essay to strengthen overall coherence.

Use a Wide Range of Vocabulary:
- Detailed explanation: The essay demonstrates a moderate range of vocabulary, with a mix of common and slightly more advanced terms. For instance, terms like "unparalleled opportunities," "intrinsic upside," "discernible disadvantages," and "proportionally" showcase a varied vocabulary. However, there’s room for improvement in the diversity of vocabulary, as some phrases could be more precisely chosen to enhance clarity and richness.
- How to improve: To improve the range of vocabulary, consider incorporating more precise and varied vocabulary throughout the essay. For example, instead of repeatedly using phrases like "on the one hand" and "on the other hand," try utilizing synonyms such as "conversely" or "alternatively" to add depth to your arguments. Additionally, explore synonyms for common words to avoid repetition and elevate the sophistication of your language.
-
Use Vocabulary Precisely:
- Detailed explanation: The essay demonstrates some precision in vocabulary usage, but there are instances where terms could be more accurately chosen to convey the intended meaning. For instance, phrases like "narrow the distance" and "furnish discernible disadvantages" could be replaced with more precise language to enhance clarity and specificity.
- How to improve: To enhance precision in vocabulary usage, carefully consider the connotations and nuances of words when selecting them for your essay. Instead of using general phrases, strive to employ specific terms that precisely capture your intended meaning. Additionally, be mindful of context and ensure that the vocabulary used accurately reflects the intended message of each sentence.
-
Use Correct Spelling:
- Detailed explanation: The essay demonstrates generally correct spelling throughout, with few noticeable errors. However, there are a few instances of misspelled words, such as "characteristically" (incorrectly spelled as "characteristically") and "incontrovertibly" (incorrectly spelled as "incontrovertibly").
- How to improve: To improve spelling accuracy, consider utilizing spell-checking tools to identify and correct any misspelled words before finalizing your essay. Additionally, practice regularly reviewing common spelling patterns and challenging words to strengthen your spelling skills. Developing a habit of proofreading your work thoroughly can also help catch any spelling errors before submission.

-
Use a Wide Range of Structures:
- Detailed explanation: The essay demonstrates a commendable variety of sentence structures, ranging from simple to complex. There is evidence of compound and complex sentences throughout the essay, enhancing its readability and coherence. For instance, the use of introductory phrases like "Recent decades have witnessed technological advancements" adds complexity, while complex sentences such as "While some people may think that the enormous influence caused by the news media can pose negative impacts on our life" showcase syntactic variety.
- How to improve: To further enhance the richness of sentence structures, consider incorporating more complex sentence constructions such as conditional sentences (e.g., "If the news media exercised more caution in disseminating information, the detrimental effects could be mitigated.") or parallel structures (e.g., "Not only does the news media shape public opinion, but it also influences consumer behavior."). Additionally, pay attention to varying sentence lengths to maintain reader engagement.
-
Use Grammar and Punctuation Accurately:
- Detailed explanation: The essay generally demonstrates a strong command of grammar and punctuation. However, there are instances where errors detract from clarity and precision. For example, the phrase "the information it brings is unreliable" could be improved by rephrasing for clarity ("the information it presents is unreliable"). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as missing commas before introductory phrases ("From my point of view, I am in agreement with this statement.") and inconsistent comma usage in compound sentences ("…media attention be it in many ways, resulting in lowering…").
- How to improve: Review grammar rules related to sentence structure, verb agreement, and noun-pronoun agreement to minimize errors. Pay attention to punctuation rules, particularly regarding comma usage with introductory phrases and in compound sentences. Proofread carefully to identify and correct errors before finalizing the essay.
Overall, while the essay demonstrates a strong grasp of grammatical range and accuracy, attention to detail in sentence structure complexity and punctuation consistency can further elevate the clarity and coherence of the writing.

Recent decades have seen remarkable technological advancements that have enabled individuals to be exposed to a vast array of news sources, both in print and digital formats. While some individuals may argue that the significant influence exerted by the news media has negative implications for our lives, in my perspective, I concur with this assertion.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that the news media can offer certain noteworthy benefits. One intrinsic advantage is that it can bridge the gap among nations, facilitating globalization and cross-cultural exchange. Undoubtedly, mass media is increasingly prevalent and diversified, potentially acting as a catalyst for the globalization process, thereby enabling people to gain valuable insights across geographic barriers.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that digital media can present discernible disadvantages. One prominent drawback is the unreliability of information it provides. Undoubtedly, individuals tend to make purchasing decisions solely based on appealing but potentially misleading advertising, which can lead them to be manipulated into pursuing fake products, consequently impacting their well-being and property. Additionally, another undeniable and prominent drawback is the influence of media on the younger generation. Undoubtedly, individuals who suddenly gain fame despite lacking any talent may spawn a detrimental trend among the youth, manifested in various forms such as diminished educational achievements and engaging in criminal behavior.
In conclusion, while the news media can offer significant benefits in terms of global connectivity and knowledge dissemination, the disadvantages it presents are undoubtedly more detrimental, given the aforementioned arguments.
