Opinions are divided on whether individuals in top positions in organizations, such as directors, should be paid more than normal employees or whether it is unfair to do that. Although there are valid arguments for the latter opinion, I believe that paying better for managerial positions is more crucial due to the pressure and tasks they are responsible for.
Those advocating for fair salaries justify their rationale with working hours. To be specific, regardless of one’s rank in the organization, employees are often required to work for the same amount of time, typically from 9 to 5. Moreover, in certain cases, junior employees could be overworked and assigned challenging tasks that are beyond their qualifications. Thus, people might argue that the same commitment at work should result in comparable compensation.
On the other hand, other people, including myself, are of the opinion that directors are entitled to receive significantly higher salaries. One characteristic of those who work in managerial positions is that they are under heavy pressure due to the responsibility for the company’s developing orientation and important decisions. This can be a detriment to their personal time for relaxation and spending time with their families, making work-life balance almost impossible for many of them. As for their contribution, they deserved to be offered better salaries. If they do not receive an equivalent salary, they might lose their motivation. In certain cases, they may choose to leave the company, which will exert negative impacts on the company’s operating system.
In conclusion, despite some criticisms from those advocating for paying fair salaries between subordinate and senior workers, I contend that such higher and more pressing positions should receive better salaries for their efforts and responsibilities.
