The diagram depicts alterations made to the layout of Central Library over the course of the past two decades. Overall, there have been significant adjustments to the library’s arrangement, including changes and additions.
Beginning with the central area, the tables and chairs have been removed, leaving an open space behind the entrance. Additionally, on the left side, there have been several specific changes, such as expansions and the introduction of new facilities. Notably, the room situated in the top left corner, which previously housed CDs, videos, and computer games, now accommodates children’s fiction books and storytelling events, with the inclusion of two sofas. The former reading room, dedicated to newspapers and magazines, has been transformed into a computer room, accessible through a newly installed door. Consequently, the collection of adult fiction books located amidst these areas has been consolidated into an all-reference book section.
The right side of the library has also undergone transformations. Three distinct areas, similar to those on the left, have been delineated: top, middle, and lower sections. At the upper corner, the space previously occupied by children’s books now serves as a lecture room. Adjacent to this, the section housing adult non-fiction books has been repurposed to accommodate additional adult fiction books, supplemented by the inclusion of an information desk and self-service machines. Finally, the former enquiry desk has been converted into a café room, with an accompanying door located to its left.
