In today’s cutting-edge world, scientists have opportunities to send messages into space to search for other forms of life. Although many people point out the drawbacks of this action, I believe it is beneficial for humanity.
On the one hand, humans can benefit from this advancement regardless of the search results. Firstly, by sending signals and messages into outer space, scientists can learn more about the universe. For instance, some phenomena including black holes and galaxies, have been discovered for centuries, may receive responses and answer fundamental existential questions when releasing signals. Secondly, searching for signs of life on other planets outside the Earth can be efficient. Finding life that existed years ago can help scientists to analyze and point out the possibilities in case humans no longer inhabit the current planet. Moreover, if scientists detect unexpected signals from a species such as aliens or meteorites near Earth, people may have enough time to prepare themselves, either to protect or fight back.
On the other hand, due to the fact that we have not fully understood the composition of the elements in space, it would be too dangerous to communicate with it. Space is still an unknown area, people have no way of knowing whether or not they are threatening and harmful to human beings. For instance, travel to outer space requires a lot of effort and takes years to prepare. Despite the advancements in technology, many individuals who have attempted to go to space have passed away in the process or suffered negative consequences, hence it would be detrimental to continue.
In conclusion, although sending messages to space looking for signs of other forms of life is challenging and risky, it is a great decision that would benefit humans living on Earth.
