While several individuals propose that only the natives of a country should receive support from that nation’s charitable funds, others claim that all people living in desperate situations should be provided with the same type of aid package regardless of their locations. This essay will first elaborate on both sides of the debate before explaining why I in my opinion, the latter seems to be more reasonable in most situations although the former may help to ensure adequate distribution of resources.
On the one hand, by focusing on helping only the locals, organizations could benefit significantly. First, by applying that policy, they would have enough aid to provide the underprivileged with. In other words, by attempting this, the range of aid recipients would be reduced, which in turn allows the amount of financial support and equipment given to increase and prevent shortages. This greatly benefits the disadvantaged population of the nation as when their basic demands are adequately met, social issues, such as crime and corruption, are less likely to occur, and societal order becomes achievable. Moreover, it helps the organizations avoid criticism from their countrymen. This is because they may feel that the organizations prioritize foreigners over them, which leads to a feeling of resentment.
On the other hand, it is reasonable that international charity efforts should be encouraged. Firstly, that initiative would encourage global collaboration. When they cooperate to provide the citizens living in extreme conditions with the aid they need, charity organizations of different countries would learn how to work together harmoniously and peacefully. This could be the groundwork for further shared achievements in the future. Another reason is that not all nations have the financial capabilities to support their citizens. Therefore, it is indispensable that other countries provide those people with the aid they need to prevent social disorders such as crime or uncontrollable diseases, which could otherwise spread to other neighboring states.
In conclusion, both sides have merits while focusing a nation’s resources on helping its residents may guarantee that they receive enough support and avoid criticism, I believe international charity actions should be promoted as it can promote further international collaboration and prevent the spread of social issues.
