Some people want governments to spend money looking for life on other planets. Others, however, think this is a waste of public money when there are so many problems on earth. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Numerous space probes have been invested to serve the extraterrestrial life search for years, receiving both support and criticism from the public, as some believe that it is of no use to problematic planet Earth. In this answer, I will demonstrate the primary reasons behind these opinions and explain why I am against the expenditure of outer space research.
Having analyzed space exploration in some depth, I concede that there is a host of its merits leading to governments’ spending on it. Granted, as a dense volume of other planets has yet to be discovered, seeking lives in outer space on a grander scale may facilitate humans to widen their knowledge of universal living creatures. For instance, previous results from NASA revealed that living could start on Mars, opening a new chance for scientists to not only make progress in genetic research but also allow humans to find a new shelter when facing hazardous risks from later planet collisions. A safer home scenario for human civilization can be regarded as the implication of outer space discoveries.
In contrast, I concur that existing issues should be solved before taking incentives to find any other extraterrestrial life. Concerning environmental aspects, climate change could give rise to various ramifications, namely sea level rises, air pollution, and ozone holes. In particular, the increasing level of specific oceans has served as a warning to people’s immediate actions to protect the habitat of white bears and penguins and to prevent themselves from a more cramped living environment. Simultaneously, several epidemics like COVID-19 posed a threat to human existence and the global economy, requiring further government response in place of searching for other planets.
In conclusion, despite the benefits of outer space exploration, I believe that governments should invest resources in resolutions of terrestrial planet matters.

Errors and Improvements:

  1. "Numerous space probes have been invested" -> "Numerous space probes have been launched"
Explanation: "Invested" suggests a financial commitment, but in the context of space exploration, it is more accurate to use "launched" to describe sending space probes into outer space.

  2. "extraterrestrial life search" -> "search for extraterrestrial life"
Explanation: Reordering the words to "search for extraterrestrial life" improves the phrasing and conforms to the standard structure in academic writing.

  3. "it is of no use to problematic planet Earth" -> "it does not address the issues on our problematic planet Earth"
Explanation: The original phrase is informal, and "of no use" lacks specificity. The suggested alternative provides a more nuanced and formal expression, emphasizing the need to address issues on Earth.

  4. "I will demonstrate" -> "I will outline"
Explanation: "Demonstrate" is slightly informal in this context. "Outline" is a more formal and suitable term for presenting the primary reasons behind opinions.

  5. "a host of its merits" -> "numerous merits"
Explanation: "A host of" is somewhat informal. Using "numerous merits" maintains formality while expressing the abundance of positive aspects associated with space exploration.

  6. "as a dense volume of other planets has yet to be discovered" -> "since numerous planets remain undiscovered"
Explanation: The original phrase is awkward and unclear. The suggested alternative rephrases it more smoothly, conveying the idea that there are still many undiscovered planets.

  7. "seeking lives in outer space" -> "searching for life in outer space"
Explanation: "Seeking lives" is an unusual and informal construction. "Searching for life" is a more conventional and academically appropriate phrasing.

  8. "facilitate humans to widen their knowledge" -> "enrich humanity’s understanding"
Explanation: The original phrase is awkward. The suggested alternative provides a more elegant and formal expression of the idea.

  9. "For instance, previous results from NASA revealed" -> "For example, findings from NASA have shown"
Explanation: "For instance" is slightly informal. "For example" is a more formal alternative. Additionally, "revealed" is replaced with "have shown" for precision.

  10. "a new chance for scientists" -> "an opportunity for scientists"
Explanation: "Chance" is less formal. "Opportunity" is a more suitable term in academic writing.

  11. "when facing hazardous risks from later planet collisions" -> "in the event of potential collisions with other celestial bodies"
Explanation: The suggested alternative provides a more detailed and formal description of the risks being discussed.

  12. "A safer home scenario for human civilization" -> "Enhanced safety for human civilization"
Explanation: The original phrase is somewhat informal. The alternative maintains formality while expressing the idea more concisely.

  13. "I concur that existing issues should be solved" -> "I agree that current issues must be addressed"
Explanation: "Concur" is slightly formal. "Agree" is a more straightforward term in this context.

  14. "incentives to find any other extraterrestrial life" -> "efforts to discover extraterrestrial life"
Explanation: "Incentives to find" is awkward. "Efforts to discover" is a more precise and formal alternative.

  15. "Concerning environmental aspects" -> "Regarding environmental concerns"
Explanation: "Concerning" is less formal. "Regarding" is a more suitable term in academic writing.

  16. "ozone holes" -> "ozone layer depletion"
Explanation: "Ozone holes" is less precise. "Ozone layer depletion" is a more accurate and formal term.

  17. "a more cramped living environment" -> "a more constrained living space"
Explanation: "Cramped" is somewhat informal. "Constrained" is a more formal and precise term.

  18. "In conclusion, despite the benefits of outer space exploration" -> "In conclusion, while recognizing the benefits of space exploration"
Explanation: The suggested alternative provides a more nuanced and formal transition to the conclusion.
